WEATHER CONDITIONS

Season phenology: late

Weather conditions:

Spring was extremely late: ice break on Pur R. near Tarko-Sale occurred on 7 June, near Samburg - on 15 June. Ice-break on Tazovskaya Guba (Bay) took place on 26 June. Intensive snowmelt in the lower reaches of Khaddute R. and Tab-Yakha R. started on 23-24 June; tundra lakes became ice-free on 26-27 June. Buds of Dwarf Birch opened on 25 June, Larch - on 27-28 June. The weather from late June to 12 July (end of works) was hot and dry. Phenologically summer started from the second week of July with the mass flying of Diptera.

Season temperature: warm
Season humidity: dry

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

low

Breeding conditions:

Lemmings, voles, Arctic and Red Foxes were not seen. Rough-legged Buzzards did not nest, Snowy Owls were recorded as wandering singles. Long-tailed Skua was common on breeding; Northern Harrier was regularly met, and probably, nested.
Among waders high breeding density was shown by Wood Sandpiper, Temminck's Stint, and locally, in areas with high lake coverage, by Bar-tailed Godwit. Tundra habitats were used for nesting by Spotted Redshank, Red-necked Phalarope, and Golden Plover. Common species of forest-coverd floodplains included Jack-snipe and Pintail Snipe, while Common Snipe was rare. A record of Woodcock nesting was made. Sandy spits at rivers were populated by Ringed Plover at high density. Clutch loss was not recorded for the nests under control.
